Study of the Impact of the Statewide Systemic Initiatives Volume I: Lessons Learned About Designing, Implementing, and Evaluating Statewide Systemic Reform
Authors: Heck, Daniel J.; Weiss, Iris R.; Boyd, Sally E.; Howard, Michael N.; Supovitz, Jonathan A.
Date: March 2003
Horizon Research's report on Lessons Learned in the Study of the Impact of the SSI focuses on the strategic planning and decision-making of leaders of 21 Statewide Systemic Initiatives (SSIs) funded by the National Science Foundation between 1991 and 2003. The report addresses both the “technical” aspects of designing, implementing, and scaling up reform interventions in mathematics and science education and the “political” aspects of aligning policy and garnering stakeholder support for reform. Included are a cross-site analysis and case reports on six SSIs.
