Local Systemic Change
through Teacher Enhancement

As part of its ongoing effort to increase the impact of its Teacher Enhancement (TE) program, the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Division of Elementary, Secondary, and Informal Education (ESIE) developed a special solicitation calling for district-based projects that will reform science, mathematics, and technology education through intensive upgrading of their teacher work force. Projects target teachers of science and/or mathematics in a range of grades from K to 12.

Projects must implement designated quality science and mathematics curriculum materials, provide a specified minimum number of hours of professional development in content and pedagogy to all participating teachers, and be part of a standardized evaluation to assess project impact on classroom practices. Funding is available to each project for up to five years.
